I’ve heard about Run for Ronald…is this the same thing?

Same concept, different name! This year, we as concerned students involved in this community decided to create a more longitudinal organization title—Run for Rochester MN—so that we could support many deserving local organizations. We hold many passions and hope for our community to build its strength, so each year we will be supporting a different local organization through our fundraising efforts.

Which organization is Run for Rochester MN fundraising for this year?

We are proud to be announcing our partnership with the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) chapter for Southeast Minnesota! This local affiliate of the NAMI non-profit organization offers education and advocacy programs “to eliminate the stigma associated with mental illness, encouraging those with mental illness to seek treatment, and advocating policies and practices that encourage the development of equitable, community-based mental health services which empower active recovery” at no added cost. Please visit www.namisemn.org for more information.

Is the Run for Rochester 5k really being organized by teenagers?

Yes, but we'd argue that being teenagers makes us uniquely qualified to run a 5k—in the hosting sense and the physical running sense. We have lots of energy and are accustomed to hard work. Between us, we've taken over twenty AP classes and earned more than twenty athletic letters. The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) is aware and supportive of our race and we have also acquired the necessary permits to host the race (the park facility use permit and the city special event permit).

Can I bring my dog?

We love dogs! But, unfortunately, dogs should not come to the Run for Rochester 5k. The website for the dye we are using affirms that "all materials are 100% FD&C and/or D&C grade and approved by the US FDA", but the dye is still unsafe if it is consumed. Since dogs have a tendency to consume things (their food, your food, socks, rocks, etc), it would be safer if Fido/Daisy/Harry Pupper stayed at home

Do I have to run?

Of course not! You can run, walk, crawl, hop on one foot, or do whatever else will make it fun for you to complete the 5k

I have questions about the color powder, where do I look for more information?

After a lot of research, we decided to order our dye from a company called Color Blaze. The following link will take you to their FAQ page, and by scrolling down a little you can find good information about the color powder.
